What are Disorders of the Nervous System?

Disorders of the nervous system include illnesses involving the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. Neurologists and neurosurgeons are the specialists who provide medical and surgical management of diseases of the nervous system. Examples of nerve disorders include: brain tumors, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, stroke, hearing and balance disorders, and disorders of the spinal cord and vertebrae.
