The Rehabilitation Center
The Rehabilitation Center at Mercy Jeannette Hospital is Westmoreland County's first hospital based in-patient rehabilitative unit and consists of 16 beds. The center is self-contained with all therapies and provides evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, treatment and intensive in-patient rehabilitation programs.

Physical Therapy
The primary concern of physical therapy is to help the patient achieve as much independence as possible. By using various exercise techniques, the licensed physical therapist is able to loosen stiff joints, improve active range of motion and increase strength. Physical therapists work with a variety of cases including stroke patients, amputees, orthopedic patients, neurological cases and multiple trauma patients. Along with in-patient physical therapy at the hospital, we also have an outpatient physical therapy program at SmartHealth Norwin Hills Outpatient Center in North Huntingdon. Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy focuses on activities that help to maximize function for daily living. An occupational therapist will determine a person's capabilities by evaluating strength, joint motion, coordination, dexterity, endurance and self-care skills. Many of the treatment activities include exercise, self care tasks, crafts, games, and in many instances work related activities. Along with in-patient occupational therapy, we also have an outpatient occupational therapy program at SmartHealth Norwin Hills Outpatient Center in North Huntingdon. Speech/Language Therapy
Speech/Language works with both inpatients and outpatients for a variety of disorders. Adult patients are seen on an inpatient basis on acute floors, the Skilled Nursing Center and the Rehabilitation Center. Adult outpatients are seen at the hospital and at SmartHealth Norwin Hills Outpatient Center in North Huntingdon and SmartHealth Penn Crossing Outpatient Center in Penn Township.
